This Caribbean-Mediterranean restaurant is riding the wave of the “Nuevo Latino” culinary trend, with consists of putting a spin or traditional Latin foods. For instance, the Puerto Rican dish mofongo is customarily made with plantain. Baru is more than a dream come true for proprietors, Colombian Brothers Rodolfo and Carlos Manuel Perez. Realizing Old San Juan hardly had any modern restaurants, the brother filled the void with an extensive menu that features approximately 28 dishes, not to mention the daily specials that Chef Zelma Rocio Parra cooks up, there is something for everyone.
